GB/T 38058 Test Methods for Civil Multi-Rotor Unmanned Aircraft Systems
GB/T 38058-2019 is the Chinese national standard titled Test methods for civil multi-rotor unmanned aircraft system. According to the National Standard Information Public Service Platform, it addresses test methods for civil multi-rotor unmanned aircraft systems and is applicable to civil light and small unmanned aircraft within its stated scope. It is a system-level test-method standard, not a standalone lithium battery certification.
Why the battery system still matters
The propulsion battery influences aircraft endurance, available power, mass distribution, voltage stability and behavior under demanding flight loads. A project team preparing a complete aircraft for evaluation should therefore control the battery configuration used during testing. Cell chemistry, series and parallel arrangement, usable capacity, maximum continuous and peak current, protection thresholds, connector, wiring, enclosure, state of charge and firmware settings should match the declared test configuration.
Changes to the battery after a test can affect repeatability. Replacing cells, altering the battery management system, changing the connector or modifying the enclosure may alter voltage drop, thermal behavior, weight, center of gravity or available discharge power. Configuration records help engineering, quality and test teams determine whether previous results remain representative.
Engineering and test preparation
Battery preparation should begin with the aircraft manufacturer's operating profile rather than a generic pack specification. Useful inputs include takeoff mass, motor and electronic speed controller demand, normal and peak current, flight duration, environmental limits, charging method, communication requirements and emergency operating logic. The resulting pack should be verified in the intended aircraft configuration, with attention to voltage response, temperature, protection behavior, mechanical retention and connector integrity.
GB/T 38058 should be considered together with other requirements applicable to the aircraft, battery, radio equipment, transport route and target market. Lithium batteries shipped by air may also require transport classification, UN 38.3 evidence and appropriate packaging. Product-specific safety or market-access requirements depend on the final design and destination.
How YC Batteries supports UAV projects
YC Batteries can support battery requirement definition, cell and pack architecture, BMS integration, connector and enclosure design, prototype builds and application-focused verification. To review a UAV battery project, provide the aircraft load profile, voltage window, current demand, target runtime, allowable mass and dimensions, operating temperature, charging concept and interface details. Final compliance decisions should be confirmed with the responsible manufacturer and qualified test organization.
