TESTING & SAFETY
IP67 Degree of Protection under IEC 60529
IP67 is an enclosure protection classification, not an independent product certification: IP6X addresses dust tightness and IPX7 temporary immersion under specified conditions.

When it matters
Use it when credible dust or temporary immersion exposure leads a product requirement to specify IP67; connectors, seals, aging, installation, and actual exposure still matter.
Key considerations
- IP6X uses the standard’s dust test method.
- IPX7 covers defined temporary immersion.
- It does not cover every water, impact, corrosion, or aging condition.
Project preparation
- Define boundaries, mounting, connectors, vents, and configuration.
- Control seal materials, compression, fasteners, and tolerances.
- Document inspections and reassess after design changes.
